Disable Affiliate Links (VGLNK) on Disqus

Disqus is the internet’s favorite comment plug-in that helps publishers increase engagement and build loyal audiences. It is free and is used by million of websites. However, recently we noticed an issue with their “Affiliate Links” option that was causing any text similar to a domain name (i.e abcdef.com) to be hyperlinked with this HTML code:

<a class="vglnk" href="http://abcdef.com" rel="nofollow"><span>abcdef</span><span>.</span><span>com</span></a>

This is something you may not want because if abcdef.com is a malicious website, that A HREF class=”vglnk” code would allow it to be clickable and your visitors can click on that link and be redirected to that abcdef.com website. To fix this behavior, you just need to disable “Affiliate Links” in the “Advanced” tab, here is a screenshot:

Then click on “Save” button and that’s all!
