If you get this error message after apt-get update:

Err:52 stretch Release
server certificate verification failed. CAfile: /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt CRLfile: none
Reading package lists... Done
E: The repository ' stretch Release' does no longer have a Release file.
N: Updating from such a repository can't be done securely, and is therefore disabled by default.
N: See apt-secure(8) manpage for repository creation and user configuration details.

Probably your clock might be off (certificates are time sensitive).

To verify the current system time type:

date -R

Consider installing NTP to sync the system time with trusted timeservers:

apt-get install ntp

You may require to install also ntpdate:

apt-get install ntpdate

Then try apt-get update again:

apt-get update
